#7 Men's Basketball Win Big Over RV Tennessee Southern, 90-65

(PULASKI, Tenn.)-#7 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeat RV Tennessee Southern, 90-65 on Thursday evening (Jan. 27). The Saints overall record improves to 19-2 and 13-1 in the conference.

  • Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) kicked the night off for the Saints with a jump shot to tie the game up 2-2 with 19:22 to play in the first half.
  • With 9:49 to play, graduate student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) drained a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 24-12.
  • First year Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) hit a jump shot to put the Saints up 32-22 with 4:14 to go in the half.
  • Batted nails a buzzer beating jumper to ice off the scoring for the Saints in the first half to give the Saints a 44-28 lead going into the locker room.
  • Batte led the Saints with 10 points and three rebounds and had one assist.
  • Sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) followed with eight points and led the team with three rebounds and two assists.
  • Bertsch tallied eight points and two rebounds.
  • First year transfer Jacon Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) also led the Saints with two assists and had five points and one rebound.
  • The Saints were 61.3% (19-31) from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from the 3-point line in the first half.

  • Batted started the half off making a 3-point jump shot with 19:31 on the clock to make it a 47-28 game.
  • Jolly hit a jumper with 12:30 to play in the game to extend the Saints lead to 56-44.
  • With 9:43 to play, sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) made a jump shot to put the Saints up by 11 (60-51).
  • First year Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./Saint Henry) drilled a 3-point basket to make it 68-53 with 7:46 to go.
  • Jones made a jump shot to secure the Saints win over the Firehawks, 90-65.
  • Jolly led the Saints with 12 points in the second half and had two rebounds.
  • Batte followed 10 points and led the Saints with three rebounds in the second half.
  • Jones recorded three assists to lead the team and had two rebounds and nine points.
  • Bertwsch had eight points and one rebound.
  • The Saints were 60.7% (17-28) from the field, 37.5% (3-8) from the 3-point line, and 75% (9-12) from the free throw line in the second half.

  • Batte tallied 20 points and six rebounds to lead the team and one assist.
  • Jolly also put up 20 points and had five rebounds and two assists.
  • Jones recorded five assists to lead the Saints and had 14 points and three rebounds.
  • Bertsch had 16 points and three rebounds.
  • The Saints were 61% (36-59) from the field, 40.9% (9-22) from the 3-point line, and 75% (9-12) from the free throw line.
