#10 Men's Basketball Cruise By Lindsey Wilson 87-77 for Another Conference Win

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-#10 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated Lindsey Wilson 87-77 on Thursday evening (Jan. 20). The Saints overall record improves to 16-2 and 10-1 in the conference. 

  • Graduate student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) kicked things off for the Saints, draining a 3-point shot to put the Saints on the board with 17:57 to play in the first half (3-3).
  • Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) made a jump shot to extend the Saints lead to 10 with 10:53 on the clock (21-11).
  • With 2:32 to play in the first half, sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) drove to the basket for a dunk to give the Saints a 39-22 lead.
  • Graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) made three free throws for the Saints final points of the first half.
  • The Saints led 45-30 going into the locker room at the half.
  • Batte led the Saints with 14 points and three assists and had two rebounds.
  • Bertsch followed with 11 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one block in the first half.
  • Pack led the Saints with five rebounds had six points and two blocks.
  • Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) also led the Saints with three assists.
  • The Saints were 53.6% (15-28) from the field, 46.2% (6-13) from the 3-point line, and 100% (9-9) from the free throw line in the first half.

  • Batted started things off for the Saints in the second half with a jump shot to extend the Saints lead to 47-30 with 19:14 left to play in the game. 
  • With 12:15 to play in the game, first year Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./Saint Henry) put in a 3-point jump shot to put the Saints up 64-44.
  • First year transfer Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) drove to the rim for a layup with 2:23 to play in the game (83-71).
  • Batte tipped-in the final basket of the game for the Saints to secure the Saints win with 58 seconds left to play.
  • The Saints defeated the Blue Raiders 87-77.
  • Batte led the Saints with 12 points and four rebounds and had one assist in the second half.
  • Vieth followed with nine points, two rebounds, and two assists. 
  • Pack tallied four rebounds to also lead the Saints in the second half.
  • Jones recorded two assists to lead the team and had eight points and two rebounds.
  • The Saints were 50% (15-30) from the field, 26.3% (3-11) from the 3-point line, and 81.8% (9-11) from the free throw line in the second half.

  • Batte led the Saints with 26 points and four assists and had six rebounds.
  • Bertsch followed with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
  • Pack led the team defensively, bringing down eight rebounds and had 10 points and two blocks.
  • Swackhammer also had four assists to lead the Saints and had five rebounds.
  • Jones tallied 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one block.
  • Rudy had 12 points and one rebound.
