Box Score Henderson, Tenn. - The men's basketball program at Thomas More defeated Freed Hardeman University on Saturday, January 15 by a score of 79-70. With the win the Saints improve to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in Mid-South Conference play.
- Junior redshirt Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would give Thomas More the early lead at 5-4 after hitting the bottom of the net on a three-pointer.
- Sophomore forward Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) stole the ball and found graduate student Garren Bertsch on the fast break in which he would convert an and-one to make the score 21-11 at the 13:09 mark in the first half.
- First-year Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) would make his first basket of the game via a jumper to give the Saints a lead of 23-16 with 9:32 remaining in the half.
- First-year Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./Saint Henry) would score on back-to-back possessions to put the Saints back up five with 6:25 left in the half.
- First-year Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) would be left open underneath the basket for a layup off a feed from Batte to make the score 35-29 with 1:56 to go in the first.
- Batte would close out the first half with a three-pointer to bring the score to 39-32 heading into the locker room.
- Batte would start the second half with a layup to give Thomas More a nine point lead at 41-32.
- Graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) hit a three at the 13:39 mark in the second to grow the Saints lead back to eight at 52-44.
- Bertsch made a three at the 12:00 mark to give Thomas More a double digit lead of 11 with the score at 55-44.
- Rudy would once again hit from deep with 9:16 remaining in regulation to make the score 58-51.
- Batte scored 12 of the final 13 points to help put the game on ice for Thomas More, bringing the final to 77-68.
- Batte led all scorers with 34 points while also collecting nine boards.
- Pack pulled down eight boards in the win.
- Bertsch went 7-9 from the field for 16 points.
- Rudy posted a 14 point and six rebound performance.
- Shot 29-58 from the field for a 50% shooting percentage as a team.
- Only had six turnovers for the whole game.
- Outrebounded Freed by a 29-22 margin.
Men's basketball will return to the court on Thursday, January 20, when they take on Lindsey Wilson College in the Connor Convocation Center, Opening tip is set for 8 p.m. ET.
