Crestview Hills, Ky. - The football program at Thomas More fell to receiving votes Faulkner (Ala.) on Saturday night (September 11) by a score of 27-20. With the loss the Saint drop to 1-1 on the season.
- Faulkner would strike first with a 16 yard touchdown pass from Kade Young that found Jalen Browder, Edgar Renteria would convert the extra point to make the score 7-0 in favor of the Eagles.
- Thomas More would add their first points of the night via a 36 yard field goal by senior kicker Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio / Lebanon), making the score 7-3.
- The Eagles would once again find the endzone courtesy of a four yard touchdown pass from Young, this time finding Isaiah Scott, increasing the lead to 14-3 Eagles.
- Senior running back Monalo Caldwell (Cincinnati, Ohio / Colerain) would get the Saints back into the ball game with a one yard touchdown run, Haley would make the extra point to make the score 14-10 heading into halftime.
- Browder and Young proved to be a powerful duo for Faulkner as the pair connected once again to increase Faulkner's lead to 21-10.
- Thomas More refused to back down as Caldwell found the endzone for the second time on the evening after being set up when Craig Wills Jr. (Cincinnati, Ohio / La Salle) snagged a 50 yard reception, Haley converted the extra point cutting into the Eagles lead at 21-17.
- Haley would once again keep his poise knocking down a 23 yard field goal with 13:09 remaining in the game to get the Saints within one (21-20).
- Faulkner's Charles Blackmon found a hole in Thomas More's defense to dash 40 yards for a touchdown to make the score 27-20 after a failed two-point conversion.
- The Saints would not go down easily as Chaz Lumpkin (Cincinnati, Ohio / Winton Woods) blocked a 36 yard field goal attempt to give Thomas More a shot to tie it with less than three minutes to go.
- Thomas More would ultimately fall by a score of 27-20.
- Caldwell led the Saints in touchdowns after finding two on the ground.
- Wills Jr. led the team in receiving snatching five catches for 81 yards.
- Haley went 2-2 on field goals and 2-2 for extra point attempts.
- Senior linebacker Peyton Van Horn (Hebron, Ky, / Conner) had a team high 15 tackles for the Saints.
- Senior Dom Valentino (Hamilton, Ohio / Hamilton Badin) had four tackles for a loss with two of those being sacks.
The football team returns to the field on September 18 when they travel to Lakeland, Florida to take on top-25 ranked Southeastern University at 7 p.m. ET.
