(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The top-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball defeated Freed-Hardeman University, 68-42, today (Saturday, February 13, 2021) in Mid-South Conference game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
FIRST HALF:
- The Saints led 21-9 after the first quarter and 32-18 at halftime.
- Thomas More shot 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from the field, including 56.3 percent (nine-of-16) from behind the three-point arc.
- The Saints' defense held the Lions to 27.6 percent (eight-of-29) shooting, including 14.3 percent (one-of-seven) from behind the arc.
- Junior guard Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) led all scorers in the opening 20 minutes with 11 points.
- Senior guard Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) added six points and four rebounds.
SECOND HALF:
- Thomas More out-scored Freed-Hardeman 19-9 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 51-27 after three quarters and then cruised to the 68-42 victory.
- The Saints shot 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from the field in the second half.
- Sophomore guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored 12 points in the second half.
- Sophomore guard Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) had eight points and four rebounds.
NOTABLES:
- The Saints improve to 22-1 overall and 17-1 in the Mid-South.
- The Lions fall to 12-12 overall and 6-11 in the Mid-South.
- Thomas More shot 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the field, including 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from behind the arc.
- Barth led all scorers with 15 points, while she pulled down five rebounds, dished out two assists and had one steal.
- Clos finished with 13 points, one assist and one steal.
- Secrist added 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and five steals.
