Box Score Crestview Hills, Ky. - The men's basketball program at Thomas More defeated the Harriers of Miami-Hamilton by a score of 99-64 on Wednesday, December 22. With the win the Saints improve to 11-2 heading into winter break.
- Thomas More opened up the game with an alley-oop to sophomore forward Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) setup by senior guard Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) to make the score 2-0.
- Graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was on fire from deep making his first four to increase the Saints lead to 18-11 at 14:44 mark in the first half.
- Graduate student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a layup to put Thomas More up eight with just 12 minutes to go in the first half.
- Sophomore guard Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made an instant impact after being checked in as the guard went in strong to the lane for a layup.
- First-year Jacob Jones (Greendale, Ind./Greendale) stole the ball and drove it down the floor for two to give the Saints a lead of 42-18.
- First-year Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./Saint Henry) closed out the half with an elbow jumper to give Thomas More a commanding 56-27 lead heading into the locker rooms.
- Rudy stayed scorching hot from deep as he started the second half with a three to increase the Saints lead to 32 at 59-27.
- Bertsch eclipsed 1000 career points as the Alexandria, Kentucky native pulled down an offensive rebound and pumped faked the defender for a layup at the 18:16 minute mark in the second half.
- Pack increased the lead to 35 as the forward pulled down an offensive board and put it back up for two to make the score 75-40 with 13:06 to go in regulation.
- Jolly also eclipsed the 1000 point mark at the 11:59 mark with a jumper to make the score 77-42.
- Redshirt junior forward Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) made a jump shot from the block at the 11:15 mark to make the score 79-44.
- Batte made a layup off a feed from Jolly to grow the score to 91-53 with just under seven minutes to go.
- First-year Nathan Vogelpohl (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) snatched an offensive rebound and banked in a runner to bring the final score to 99-64.
- Bertsch and Jolly both scored their 1000th career points in the second half.
- Rudy led the team in scoring with 24 points.
- Batte tallied a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
- Pack had a near triple-double with six points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
- The Saints outrebounded the Harries by a 52-24 margin.
The men's basketball team will return to the court when they host the reigning national champion Shawnee State Bears in the Connor Convocation Center at 8 p.m. ET on January 3.
