Box Score (PIKEVILLE, Ky.)-#13 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated RV Pikeville on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 18), 81-70. The Saints overall record improves to 10-2 and 5-1 in the conference.
- Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) kicked things off for the Saints making a jumpshot to put the team on the board (2-0) at the 18:19 mark.
- With 9:39 to play in the first half, graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) drained a 3-point jump shot to help the Saints regain their lead over the Bears (20-19).
- First year transfer Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) drove to the rim for a layup with 2:22 to play in the first half to extend the Saints lead to five (39-34).
- Rudy closed the scoring out for the Saints in the first half by making his fourth three of the half to secure the Saints eight point lead going into the locker room (42-34).
- Rudy led the scoring for the Saints with 12 points and recorded three rebounds.
- Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) followed with 11 points and led the Saints with five rebounds and three assists in the first half.
- Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) also led the Saints in assists with three.
- The Saints were 51.9% (14-27) from the field, 66.7% (8-12) from the 3-point line, and 75% (6-8) from the free throw line in the first half.
- Jones would start the scoring off for the Saints in the second half, driving to the basket for a layup with 19:04 to play in the game (44-38).
- Graduate student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would swish a 3-pointer to extend the Saints lead to 56-47 with 11:59 to play in the game.
- With 3:06 to play, Pack would step behind the 3-point line for a 3-point basket to make it a five point game (71-66).
- Bertsch would make two free throws to secure the Saints win with 34 seconds left in the game (81-70).
- Pack led the Saints with 16 points in the second half and tallied two rebounds.
- Jones followed with 11 points, two rebounds, and an assist.
- Rudy tallied four rebounds to lead the Saints defensively in the second half.
- Batte, Swackhammer, and Jones all recorded one assist to lead the team in the second half.
- The Saints were 55.6% (15-27) from the field, 22.2% (2-9), and 77.8% (7-9) from the free throw line in the second half.
- Pack led the way for the Saints with 27 points and seven rebounds and he had three assists.
- Jones followed with 18 points, three rebounds, and one assist.
- Rudy also led the team with seven rebounds and had 12 points.
- Batte followed with 14 points, five rebounds, and an assist.
- Swackhammer led the team in assists with four and had three rebounds.
- The Saints were 53.7% (29-54) from the field, 47.6% (10-21) from the 3-point line, and 76.5% (13-17) from the free throw line.
The Saints return to the court on Wednesday evening (Dec. 22) as they face Miami-Hamilton at 7:00 pm ET in the Connor Convocation Center.
