(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-#16 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated Wilberforce on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 11), 87-72. The Saints overall record improves to 9-1.

  • To kick off the game, graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) drained a three to put the Saints on the board with 19:38 to go in the half (3-0).
  • Graduate student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a jump shot to extend the Saints lead to seven with 10:53 on the clock (16-9).
  • With 2:23 to play in the first half, first year Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) drove to the rim for a layup to make it 30-21.
  • Sophomore Jalen Scott (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a layup to close the scoring for the Saints in the first half.
  • The Saints went to the locker room with lead of 34-30.
  • Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led the Saints with seven points and had four rebounds and an assist.
  • Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) led the team with six rebounds and two assists in the first half.
  • The Saints were 48% (12-25) from the field, 30.8% (4-13) from the 3-point line, and 75% (6-8) from the free throw line in the first half.

  • Rudy kicked off the second half with a three to continue the Saints lead with 19:06 to play in the game (37-32).
  • With 7:34 to play in the game, Rudy drained another 3-pointer to help the Saints regain the lead (63-61).
  • Bertsch would drive to the basket for a layup with 4:09 to play in the game to extend the Saints lead to 75-66.
  • Junior Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./ Campbell County) would close out the scoring for the Saints with a layup to secure the Saints win. 
  • The Saints defeated Wilberforce 87-72.
  • Bertsch led the Saints with 19 points and three rebounds and had one assist.
  • Jolly followed with 12 points and two assists and also had three rebounds.
  • Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) led the Saints with five assists.
  • The Saints were 66.7% (18-27) from the field, 50% (4-8) from the 3-point line, and 76.5% (13-17) from the 3-point line in the second half.

  • Bertsch led the Saints with 24 points and had six rebounds and two assists.
  • Rudy followed with 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
  • Pack led the Saints defensively with eight rebounds and had eight points and two assists.
  • Jolly recorded 14 points, five reboundsd, and three assists.
  • Swackhammer led the Saints with six assists and had two rebounds.
  • The Saints were 57.7% (30-52) from the field, 38.1% (8-21) from the 3-point line, and 76% (19-25) from the free throw line. 

The Saints return to the court on Thursday (Dec. 16) to face Cumberlands (Ky.) at 7:00 pm ET in the Connor Convocation Center.
