Football Falls to Pikeville in Season Finale

Crestview Hills, Ky. - The football program at Thomas More finished their season at 5-5 following a loss 13-7 loss to the University of Pikeville.

  • Sophomore Colton Sandhas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) created the first turnover of the game with an interception to halt a Pikeville drive.

  • Pikeville's Lee Kirkland completed a 25 yard pass to Alexander Shelton to give UPIKE a 6-0 lead following a blocked extra point by senior Dominic Valentino (Hamilton, Ohio / Hamilton Badin).
  • The Bear's would add to the board one more time before the half as Kirkland found Adrian Medacco for a ten yard touchdown to give them a 13-0 lead following a converted extra point by Jakob Headley.

  • Senior defensive back Chaz Lumpkin (Cincinnati, Ohio / Winton Woods) intercepted a pass on Pikeville's first drive of the half to stop the drive.
  • The third quarter remained scoreless with a 13-0 lead for UPIKE.

  • Sophomore quarterback Rae'Von Vaden (Louisville, Ky. / Marion C. Moore) would get the Saints on the board with 2:48 remaining in the game as he found junior wideout Roques Dowdy (Athens, Ga. / Oconee County) for a 44 yard touchdown, senior Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) converted the extra point to cut the lead to 13-7 in favor of the Bears.
  • Thomas More would be unable to get the ball back resulting in a 13-7 UPIKE win.

Thomas More football is completed for the 2021 season, be on the look out later in the Spring for the release of the 2022 football schedule.
