Thomas More Drops Mid-South Opener at No. 22 Cumberland in Final Minutes

(LEBANON, Tenn.) – The Thomas More University women's soccer lost its first Mid-South Conference match of the season, 2-1, at No. 22 Cumberland on Monday (September 30, 2019). The Phoenix scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute.

  • Junior midfielder Morgan Beare (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) headed in a corner kick from Ryann Meddings (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) in the 63rd minute to even the score at 1-1.

  • Thomas More fell to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in Mid-South Conference play.
  • The Saints dropped to 0-4 in road games this season.
  • No. 22 Cumberland improved to 8-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the MSC.
  • The Phoenix scored their first goal on a penalty kick in the 40th minute.
  • First-year goalkeeper Skylin Yates (Dry Ridge, Ky./Simon Kenton) made nine saves in the loss.
