Box Score (LEBANON, Tenn.) – The Thomas More University men's soccer team held two leads in its opening match of Mid-South Conference play at Cumberland on Monday (September 30, 2019), but ultimately lost in overtime, 3-2.
- Junior defender Adam Mathews (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) opened the scoring with his first goal of the year in the 28th minute, assisted by defender Pierce Turner (Milford, Ohio/Milford).
- Senior forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) put the Saints on top 2-1 in the 58th minute, assisted by Mark McAulay (London, England/Taunton).
- Thomas More fell to 4-4 overall, 0-1 in Mid-South play, and 0-1-0 in overtime games this season.
- Cumberland moved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-South.
- Both times the Saints took the lead, the Phoenix equalized less than three minutes later.
- Smith extended his goal-scoring streak to three games and raised his season tally to eight goals in eight games, matching the total number of goals he scored all last season.
