Saints Lose Overtime Thriller to Georgetown in Regular Season Finale 2-1

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's soccer team lost an overtime heartbreaker 2-1 to Georgetown College on Wednesday night (October 30, 2019) in the Saints' regular season finale.

• Trailing 1-0 late, sophomore defender Pierce Turner (Milford, Ohio/Milford) headed in an Adam Mathews (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) corner kick in the 83rd minute to tie the game.

• Thomas More fell to 5-10-1 overall and 0-7-1 in the Mid-South Conference.
• Georgetown improved to 13-4 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
• The Tigers scored the game-winning goal just 11 seconds into overtime
• After drawing even late, the Saints had multiple chances to take the lead in the final minutes. Ethan Hay (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) sent a header off the crossbar, and Turner missed inches wide on another header in the final seconds.
• Senior forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) led the Saints with eight shot attempts, including two on goal.
• First-year keeper George Tidswell (Skipton, England/South Craven School) made three saves for the Saints.
• Thomas More outshot Georgetown 22-11.

• The Saints will return to action at the Mid-South Conference Tournament, which starts on Saturday, November 9 at Warren East High School in Bowling Green, Ky.
• Tournament seeding and game times will be announced this week by the Mid-South Conference.
