Saints Drop Double Overtime Heartbreaker to Pikeville, 2-1

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's soccer team lost a double-overtime heartbreaker 2-1 to University of Pikeville on Wednesday night (October 16, 2019) at BB&T Field.

• Senior forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) tied the game for the Saints on a penalty kick in the 86th minute to force overtime. After a scoreless first period, the Bears scored the golden goal winner when they headed in a free kick in the 102nd minute

• Thomas More fell to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-South, and extended their losing streak to six games.
• Pikeville moved to 4-7-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
• Smith leads the team with 11 goals this season, and he finished with a team-high nine shot attempts and four shots on goal.

• The Saints will host Shawnee State University in a Mid-South Conference matchup on Saturday, October 19 at approximately 7 p.m. on Homecoming and Senior Day at BB&T Field.
