(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Thomas More College junior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year and three other Saints were named All-PAC tonight (Friday, February 23, 2018) by the conference's 10 head coaches.
Temple was also named first team All-PAC for the second-straight season. She is the third-straight and sixth overall Thomas More women's basketball student-athlete to be named Player of the Year. Temple, who scored her 1,000th career point in December in Hawaii, leads the team in scoring with 17.2 points per game and on the boards with 7.0 rebounds per game. She leads the team in assists with 134 and is second on the team in steals with 53. Temple is shooting 56.1 percent (162-of-289) from the field, including 45.0 percent (49-of-109) from behind the three-point arc.
Joining Temple as a first team All-PAC selection is senior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton). Owings, last year's PAC Player of the Year, leads the team in steals with 65 and is second in scoring with 14.6 points per game and assists with 76. She is shooting 47.6 percent (137-of-288) from the field and 46.1 percent (65-of-141) from behind the three-point arc.
Senior forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) was named second team All-PAC and sophomore forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) was named honorable mention All-PAC. Kiernan leads the team in blocks with 45 and is third in scoring with 11.8 points per game, rebounding with 5.1 rebounds per game and steals with 34. She is shooting 53.4 percent from the field (118-of-221) and 80.4 percent (45-of-56) from the free-throw line. Schultz is second on the team in rebounding with 6.0 rebounds per game and is fourth in scoring with 9.9 points per game. She has blocked 26 shots and dished out 20 assists, while shooting 66.0 percent (101-of-153) from the field.
First-year guard Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) was named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC Sportsmanship Team was established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
The Saints, who are ranked No. 4 in the nation by both NCAA Division III national polls, take on fourth-seeded Grove City College tonight at 8 p.m. in a semifinal game of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament.
