Box Score 2 (PARK HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team shut out Thiel and Grove City in its home opener today, Friday Sept. 22. Both matches were played at Notre Dame Academy. With the wins, the Saints move to 10-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play. With the loss Thiel dropped to 7-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Similarly, with the loss Grove City dropped to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Against Thiel, the Saints won 3-0 with scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-18. Jenna Mummert was a standout in kills against the Tomcats, recording 16 kills and had a hitting percentage of .583. Rachel Bronner had the highest number of digs on the team, recording 11. Jennsa Fessler recorded 21 assists. Mummert recorded a solo block and an assisted block alongside Gabbie Kayse.
In the match against Grove City, the Saints won 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-6. Madison Krumpelman recorded 11 kills, three assists, a block assist and two solo blocks. Fessler had 13 assists and five digs. Mummert recorded two more solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Alli Borders had four service aces, four kills, four digs, a solo block, and two assisted blocks.
The Saints are back in action and continuing their home stand tomorrow, Saturday Sept. 23, and back at the Connor Convocation Center to take on Waynesburg and Chatham. The matches will be at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM with Waynesburg and Chatham playing in between at 1:00PM.
