Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's soccer team clinched at least a share of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season and the top-seed in the upcoming PAC Championship Tournament as it defeated Westminster College, 3-1, today at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 11-4-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Titans fall to 8-8-1 overall and 3-4 in the PAC.
Westminster took a 1-0 advantage when Peter Mattocks scored in the 28th minute. First-year forward Colton Dolezal (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored the equalizer for the Saints at the 39:17 mark off an assist by senior midfielder Brandon Lorentz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day).
Thomas More took a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute when sophomore forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) scored off a cross from senior forward Sam Lewis (Stawell, England/Crispin School). The Saints added an insurance goal in the 80th minute when first-year midfielder Zach Leffler (Boston, Mass./Walton Verona (Ky.)) scored off an assist by first-year forward Ibra Goumballe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills).
Junior goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) earned the win in goal as he played all 90 minutes and recorded nine saves.
Thomas More out-shot Westminster 26-15 and had a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Saints close out the regular season on Saturday (October 28) when they travel to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College at 1:30 p.m.
