Box Score (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team extended its winning streak to 13 matches as it defeated Chatham University, 3-0, today (Sunday, October 1, 2017) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Athletic & Fitness Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-18.
With the win, the Saints improve to 16-4 overall and 10-0 in the PAC. In 10 PAC matches, the Saints have only dropped one set to their opponents. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 7-8 overall and 1-8 in the PAC.
First-year outside hitter Carlee Lambert (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the team's offensive attack with 12 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) added nine kills and junior setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) finished with eight kills. Fessler paced the offense with 29 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Hannah Just (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) led the team in service aces with four.
On the defensive side of the net, Fessler had a team-high nine digs, while Just and senior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) each finished with eight digs. Sophomore middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Notheastern) led the team in blocks with four total blocks.
Thomas More returns to action on October 6 and 7 when it travels to St. Louis, Missouri to compete at the Active Ankle Invitational hosted by Washington University – St. Louis.
