Box Score 2 (LATROBE, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball swept a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match today (Saturday, September 24, 2016) as it defeated Saint Vincent College and Grove City College both by the score of 3-0 at the Carey Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
With the sweep, the Saints improve to 8-7 overall and 6-0 in the PAC.
In the first match of the day, the Saints defeated the host Bearcats by the scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-19. First-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) paced the offense as she recorded 32 assists. Senior right side Paige Noday (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the team's attack with 10 kills, while senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the team in service aces with four. On the defensive side of the net, first-year outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) finished with 14 digs, while junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) finished with 12 digs.
Thomas More defeated Grove City in the second match of the day by the scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-22. Senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the team's attack with 11 kills, while Meyer and Noday each finished with nine kills. Borders led the team in assists with 36, while Bronner led the team in digs with 17 and Meyer added 10.
Thomas More returns to action tomorrow when it plays Thiel College at 1 p.m. in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
