Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team swept a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match today (Saturday, September 17, 2016) as it defeated Bethany College, 3-2, and Chatham University, 3-0, at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the sweep, the Saints improve to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in the PAC.
In the first match of the day, the Saints rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Bison by the scores of 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 26-24 and 21-19. Senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the Saints' offensive attack with a match-high 21 kills, while first-year outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) finished with 15 kills. First-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) paced the office with 50 assists, while Krumpelman led the team in service aces with four.
The Saints were led on the defensive side of the net by Krumpelman and senior outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron) as they each had 23 digs and Borders added 17.
In the last match of the day, Thomas More defeated Chatham by the scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-19. Krumpelman led the team in kills with 13, while Borders led the team in assists with 25. Sophomore defensive specialist Leanne Dant (Louisville, Ky./Bethlehem) led the team in digs with 13 and Bragg added 11.
Thomas More returns to action tomorrow as it hosts Westminster College at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
