Saints Fall to In-State Rival Centre on Saturday

(DANVILLE, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's soccer team fell, 3-0, to in-state rival Centre College tonight (Saturday, September 10, 2016) on the final day of the 27th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic at Hillside Field in Danville, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 3-1 and with the win, the Colonels improve to 4-0.

Centre led 1-0 at halftime as it had a goal in the 20th minute.  The Colonels then scored in the 48th minute and 73rd minute for the final score of 3-0.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) played the first 61:24 and allowed two goals, while recording one save.  First-year goalkeeper Alex Piontek (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia Regional) played the final 28:36 and allowed one goal and recorded four saves.

Centre out-shot the Saints 18-4 and had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (September 14) when it hosts Heidelberg University at 2:30 p.m. at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
