(ATHENS, Ohio) – The No.4/5-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team fell, 87-50, today (Saturday, November 5, 2016) to NCAA Division I member Ohio University in an exhibition game at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.
The Saints shot 75 percent from the field in the first quarter, but trailed 24-20. The Bobcats used a 24-7 second quarter to build a 48-27 lead at halftime. In the second half Ohio had a 39-23 advantage in scoring win the exhibition 87-50.
Junior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in scoring with 15 points. Sophomore forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) just missed double-digit scoring with eight points. Sophomore guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) led the team on the boards with six rebounds and in assists with five. Owings led the Saints in steals with two.
Thomas More will open the 2016-17 season on November 15 when it travels to Danville, Kentucky to play in-state rival Centre College at 7 p.m.
