Box Score (NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team swept Westminster College, 3-0, tonight (Thursday, October 6, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-8, 25-17 and 25-15.
With the win, the Saints improve to 11-8 overall and 9-1 in the PAC, while Westminster falls to 11-10 overall and 4-5 in the PAC following the loss.
Thomas More hit .340 in the three sets, while it held Westminster to a .055 hitting percentage.
Senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the Saints' offensive attack with 14 kills, while senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) added 13 kills. First-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) paced the offense with 35 assists and Meyer led the team in service aces with three.
Meyer led Thomas More's defensive effort with 15 digs and junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) finished with 14 digs. First-year middle hitter Becca St. John (Okeana, Ohio/Ross) led the team's block effort with three.
The Saints remain in Pennsylvania tomorrow as it takes on Washington & Jefferson College at 7 p.m. inside the Henry Memorial Gymnasium in Washington.
