(WASHINGTON, Pa.) –Thomas More College men's soccer traveled to Washington & Jefferson College on for their final regular season game Saturday, October 29th. The Saints tied the Presidents 1-1 in double overtime to move to 4-2-2 in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) and 9-8-2 overall while the Presidents move to 6-7-3 overall and 2-4-2 in the PAC.

It was a windy fall day and a back and forth game in Pennsylvania. In the 11th minute C.J. Seig (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) played in Suli Kayed (Union, Ky./Ryle) with a nifty pass, but was judged off sides. The off sides kick was stolen and played to Tim Knauer (Batavia, Ohio/Batavia) at the top of the box for a shot just over the bar. Unfortunately, the Presidents scored first off a scrum outside the box.
In the 38th minute Jeremy Staigl (Beavercreek, Ohio/Dayton Carroll) drilled a shot through the crowd that hit the goal keeper. In the 43rd minute Oliver Owen (Manchester, England/Harrop Fold) played in one of the dirtiest chips seen all year that beat the back line and the goal keeper, but the finish went askew. In the 44th minute Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) won a penalty kick and put it away for a 1-1 tie at the half.
In the second half and overtime the Saints surged forward looking for the winning goal. In the 58th minute Jack Berner (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) out jumped the goalkeeper to head the ball just over. In the 79th minute Patrick Louis (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) beat the goal keeper with a shot, but it was saved off the line by the defense. Bracketing two chances, one from Brian Runyon (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) in the 87th and a second from Jake Overbee (Nicholasville, Ky./West Jessamine) headed over off a shot from Runyon, Jacob Hensley (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) cleared two shots of the line in the 82nd and 89th minutes to extend the game.
In over time in the 102nd minute Jack Berner (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) had a shot wide left. In the 106th minute Griffin Garrison (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) shot the ball from the top of the penalty box just over on the left. Thomas More outshot W&J 16 to 10. The corner kick advantage was also 5 to 0 to the Saints advantage.
