Box Score (WAYNESBURG, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball teams swept Waynesburg University, 3-0, tonight (Friday, October 21, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Thomas More won by the scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-13.
With the win, the Saints improve to 17-8 overall and 13-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-23 overall and 0-17 in the PAC.
As a team, Thomas More hit .325 during the match. Senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the Saints' attack as she had 10 kills. Senior middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) added seven kills and senior right side Paige Noday (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) finished with six. First-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) paced the offense with 29 assists, while first-year outside hitter Sara Crooker (Williamsburg, Ohio/McNicholas) led the team with five service aces.
The Saints' defense forced Waynesburg to hit .051 in the three set match. Junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in digs with 12.
Thomas More returns to action tomorrow as it will play Bethany College at 1 p.m. inside Hummel Field House in Bethany, West Virginia.
