Box Score 2 (BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team split a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match today (Saturday, October 1, 2016) at Metheny Fieldhouse in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. The Saints fell, 3-0, to Geneva College and defeated Waynesburg University, 3-0.
With the split, the Saints fall to 10-8 overall and 8-1 in the PAC.
Geneva defeated Thomas More in the first match of the day by the scores of 25-8, 25-17 and 25-17. Senior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the Saints' offensive attack with eight kills, while first-year setter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) led the team in assists with 20. Junior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team's defensive effort with 15 digs.
In the second match of the day, Thomas More defeated Waynesburg by the scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-14. Borders paced the offense with 28 assists, while Meyer and senior right side Paige Noday (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) each had 10 kills to lead the team's attack. The Saints had three players with double-digit digs as Bronner had 19, Borders finished with 14 and Meyer added 12.
The Saints return to action on Thursday (October 6) when they travel to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to play Westminster College at 7 p.m.
