Box Score 2 (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play today (Saturday, September 12, 2015) with a pair of 3-0 wins over Chatham University and Grove City College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
With the pair of wins, the Saints improve to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.
The Saints defeated Chatham in the first match of the day by the scores of 25-8, 25-12 and 25-6. Senior outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) led the Saints' offense with nine kills, while senior middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) added nine kills and six service aces. Sophomore setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) led the team in assists with 30. Junior outside hitter Megan Klever (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) and sophomore Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in digs with nine each.
In the second match of the day, Thomas More defeated Grove City by the scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-17. Howell led the team in kills, while junior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) added eight and Knaley finished with seven. Fessler paced the offense with 32 assists. Howell led the Saints' defensive effort with 11 digs, while junior outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron) added nine.
The Saints return to action tomorrow when it takes on Saint Vincent College at 1 p.m. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
