Box Score (COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Thomas More College men's soccer team remain undefeated tonight (Thursday, September 10, 2015) as it rallied to defeat Capital University, 4-2, in a non-conference match at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
With the win, the Saints improve to 3-0 and with the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-2.
Capital led 1-0 at halftime as Calvin Saunders scored off a Sheldon Gordon assist at the 11:55 mark.
Thomas More tied the match at 1-1 early in the second half when junior forward Brian Runyon (Parkesburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) found the back of the next off a cross from senior forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) at the 45:19 mark. The Crusaders took a 2-1 advantage at the 46:14 mark when Tyler Washington scored unassisted.
Sophomore defender Colin Dean (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored off a Runyon assist at the 62:14 mark to tie the match at 2-2. The Saints took a 3-2 lead when Dean scored off another Runyon cross at the 64:48 mark. Thomas More closed out the scoring at the 76:28 mark when junior forward Nathaniel Seig (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) scored unassisted for the final score of 4-2.
Freshman goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) earned the win in-goal as he played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves.
The Saints out-shot Capital, 18-9, including 8-5 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 9-3.
Thomas More returns to action on Sunday (September 13) when it hosts Denison University at 3:30 p.m. at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
