Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The second-ranked and top-seeded Thomas More College men's soccer team fell, 2-1, to fourth-seeded Westminster College today (Wednesday, November 4, 2015) in the final minute of a semifinal match of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 16-2-1 and must wait until Monday (November 9) to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. With the win, the Titans improve to 11-5-3 and advance to play either second-seeded Geneva College or third-seeded Grove City College in the PAC Tournament championship match on Saturday (November 7).
Westminster took a 1-0 lead on an Eric Michalski goal at the 47:34 mark. The Saints scored the equalizer at the 86:41 mark when sophomore forward Eli Nienaber (LaGrange, Ky./Bishop Brossart) found the back of the net off a corner kicks by senior forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic). Zach Walter scored the Titans' game-winning goal at the 89:35 mark.
Freshman goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) played all 90 minutes in goal and had three saves, while allowing two goals.
Thomas More out-shot Westminster, 16-6, including 10-5 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks 8-2.
