Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team extended its winning streak to 14 matches tonight (Thursday, October 15, 2015) as it defeated Bethany College, 3-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21.
With the win, the Saints improve to 15-3 overall and 14-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 20-8 overall and 10-3 in the PAC.
In the first set of the day, the Saints led by as many as six points when they led 19-13. Bethany pulled within three points at 21-18, but Thomas More closed the set on a 4-3 run for the 25-21 set one win. Bethany took a 13-10 lead in the second set and then Thomas More went on a 12-8 run to win the set. In the final set, the Saints were down 20-17 and then closed out the match on an 8-1 run for the 25-21 third set win and a 3-0 match win.
Senior outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) led the offensive attach as she hit .333 and had a match-high 15 kills. Junior outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) finished the match with 12 kills and senior middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) had 10 kills. Sophomore setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) paced the offense with 39 assists.
Defensively, Knaley led the team in blocks with two. Meyer led the team in digs with 17, while sophomore defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) added 10 digs.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (October 17) when it travels to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania for a tri-match. The Saints will play host Westminster College at 11 a.m. and Haverford College at 1 p.m.
