Box Score (DANVILLE, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team defeated in-state rival Centre College, 2-0, tonight (Saturday, September 6, 2014) on the second day of the 25th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic at Hillside Field in Danville, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 4-0 and with the loss, the Colonels fall to 1-1-1.
Thomas More took a 1-0 at the 30:01 mark when senior midfielder Christopher Lehan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) scored off a cross from senior defender Alex Dean (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands).
Dean added an insurance goal when he scored unassisted at the 74:23 mark to increase the Saints' lead to 2-0.
Senior goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded one save to earn the win.
Centre out-shot the Saints, 9-8, but Thomas More had a 6-1 advantage in shots on-goal. The Colonels won the battle of corner kicks, 5-2.
Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (September 10) when it travels to Richmond, Indiana to play Earlham College at 4:30 p.m.
