Box Score (GRANVILLE, Ohio) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team defeated Denison University, 2-1, tonight (Tuesday, September 16, 2014) in a non-conference match at Barclay-Thomsen Field in Granville, Ohio.
With the win, the Saints improve to 5-2 and with the loss, the Big Red fall to 2-3-1.
Denison took a 1-0 lead on a Mark Waterman goal at the 29:43 mark. Thomas More tied the match at 1-1 at the 31:40 mark when sophomore midfielder Nathaniel Seig (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) found the back of the net from 15-yards out.
Junior forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 55:51 mark off a an assist from senior midfielder Christopher Lehan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills).
Senior goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) earned the win in goal as he played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves, while allowing one goal.
Denison out-shot Thomas More, 9-8, including 5-3 on-goal, but the battle of corner kicks was tied at 2-2.
The Saints return to action on Saturday (September 20) when they travel to Bluffton, Ohio to play Bluffton University at 2:30 p.m.
