Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The top-seeded Thomas More College volleyball team dropped the first set, but rallied to defeat fourth-seeded Thiel College, 3-1, tonight (Friday, November 7, 2014) in a semifinal match of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won by the scores of 25-27, 25-15, 25-19, 25-15.
With the win, the Saints improve to 28-4 and advance to play either second-seeded Bethany College or third-seeded Geneva College tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the championship match at the Connor Convocation Center. With the loss, the Tomcats end the season at 14-17.
The Saints' offensive attack was led by junior outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este), who hit .421 with a match-high 19 kills. Junior middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) hit .433 with 14 kills, while senior outside hitter Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) added 13 kills. Senior setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) paced the offense with a match-high 56 assists, while senior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team in service aces with three.
Four Saints finished with double-digit digs as Castiglioni had a match-high 34, senior defensive specialist Christina Newport-Brackett (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) added 21, while Fessler and senior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) each finished with 16. Knaley led the team in blocks with three.
