Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches tonight (Wednesday, October 8, 2014) as it swept Chatham University, 3-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won by the scores of 25-2, 25-5 and 25-14.
With the win, the Saints improve to 16-2 overall and 6-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 0-18 overall and 0-11 in the PAC.
The Saints had a .466 hitting percentage, while Chatham hit -.157. Senior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame), sophomore outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron), freshman middle hitter Kristen Jansen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and freshman outside hitter Kelsea Schloemer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) each had a match-high-tying four kills. Senior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team with 18 service aces, while senior defensive specialist Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) and sophomore defensive specialist Katie McKinney (Lebanon, Ky./Marion County) each added four aces.
Bronner and sophomore setter Nicci Stemler (North Bend, Ohio/Seton) each had 18 assists to lead the team, while Castiglioni led the team in digs with 13.
The Saints return to action tomorrow (Thursday, October 9) when they travel to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to play Waynesburg University. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
