Box Score (WASHINGTON, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball teams swept Washington & Jefferson College, 3-0, today (Sunday, October 19, 2014) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Henry Memorial Center in Washington, Pennsylvania. Thomas More won the match by the scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-14.
With the win, the Saints improve to 22-3 overall and 12-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Presidents fall to 12-9 overall and 6-8 in the PAC.
Sophomore outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the team in kills with 10, while junior middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) and junior outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) each added six kills. Freshman setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) led the team in assists with 27, while senior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team in service aces with three.
Castiglioni led the defense with 23 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Libbi Giuliano (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) added 12 digs and senior defensive specialist Christina Newport-Brackett (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) finished with 11 digs. Knaley led the Saints in blocks with five.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday (October 22) when they host Bethany College at 7 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
