Box Score (BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team suffered its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss tonight (Friday, October 10, 2014) as it fell, 3-0, to Geneva College at Metheny Fieldhouse in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. The Golden Tornadoes won by the scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-26.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 17-3 overall and 7-1 in the PAC. With the win, the Golden Tornadoes improve to 15-7 overall and 8-2 in the PAC.
Sophomore outside hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the team in kills with eight, while junior middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) added five and sophomore middle hitter Alexis Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) finished with four. Senior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in assists with 18, while senior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) had a team-high two serve aces.
Castilgioni led the Saints' defensive effort with 33 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Libbi Giuliano (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) added 13 digs.
The Saints return to the court tomorrow when they are in Grove City, Pennsylvania for a PAC tri-match at the Grove City College Arena. Thomas More will play host Grove City at 11 a.m. and Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m.
