Box Score 2 (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team swept two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches today (Saturday, September, 2013) as it defeated host Chatham University and Grove City College both by the score of 3-0 in a PAC tri-match in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
With the sweep, the Saints improve to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the PAC.
Thomas More defeated Chatham in the first match of the day by the scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-19. Sophomore middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) led the team in kills with 11 and freshman middle hitter Megan Klever (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) added seven. Junior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in assists with 19. Junior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team in digs with 29 and freshman outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron) added 10.
The Saints defeated Grove City in the second match of the day by the scores of 25-8, 27-25 and 25-13. Sophomore outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) led the team in kills with 16 and freshman middle hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had nine. Bronner led the team in assists with 29, while senior defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) added 10. Castiglioni led the team in digs with 20 and Bragg finished with 11.
Thomas More returns to action next Saturday (October 5) when it hosts Bethany College and Geneva College in a PAC tri-match at the Connor Convocation Center. The Saints will play Geneva at 11 a.m. and Bethany at 3 p.m.
