Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 3-1, today (Sunday, September 22, 2013) in its home opener at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-21.
With the win, the Saints improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). With the loss, the Presidents fall to 7-2 overall and 0-2 in the PAC.
Sophomore middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) led the team's offense with 16 kills, while junior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) had nine kills and sophomore outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) finished with eight kills. Sophomore setter Becca Kuhn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led the team in assists with 37. Knaley, Kuhn and freshman outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron) each had two service aces.
Senior defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led four Saints with double-digit digs with 19. Junior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse) had 18, Kuhn had 17 and Bragg had 10. Knaley led the Saints' block party with four total blocks.
Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (September 25) when they host Thiel College at 7 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
