Box Score (BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer defeated Bethany College, 3-0, today (Saturday, October 5, 2013) in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener at Hoag Field in Bethany, West Virginia.
With the win, the Saints improve to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Bison fall to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the PAC.
Junior midfielder Jake Plummer (North Olmstead, Ohio/Hearts of Jesus Christ-Corpus Christi) gave the Saints a 1-0 advantage when he scored on a penalty kick in the 24th minute.
Plummer connected on another penalty kick in the 48th minute to give Thomas More a 2-0 lead. The Saints closed out the scoring in the 61st minute when junior forward Jonah Ritter (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) scored off a cross from sophomore forward Austin Juniet (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) for the final score of 3-0.
Junior goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 90 minutes in goal to record the win.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday (October 9) when they host Geneva College at 1 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
