Box Score (CINCINNATI, Ohio) - The Thomas More College volleyball team fell, 3-2, to Heidelberg University today (Friday, September 7, 2012) in the opening match of the Charlie Wrublewski Tournament host by the College of Mount St. Joseph at the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 3-4 overall and with the win, the Student Princes improve to 4-1.
Heidelberg won the match by the scores of 25-18, 20-25, 18-25, 28-26 and 15-11. The Saints were led offensively by sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield), who had 18 kills. Two other Saints finished with double-digit kills as freshman middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) and junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) had 13 and 11 kills respectively.
Sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team's defensive effort with 35 digs. Senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) added 30 digs and sophomore Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) finished with 16.
Thomas More closes out the first day of the Wrublewski Tournament at 5:30 p.m. tonight it plays Maryville (Tenn.) College.
