Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The top-seeded Thomas More College volleyball team defeated fifth-seeded Westminster College, 3-1, tonight (Friday, November 2, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament semifinal match at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won by the scores of 25-17, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-11.
With the win, the Saints improve to 25-5 and advance to the PAC Tournament championship match tomorrow (Saturday, November 3), where they host either second-seeded Thiel College at 4 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center. With the loss, the Titans fall to 22-11.
Sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) led three Saints with double-digit kills with 17. Joining her with double-digit kills was senior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 14 and sophomore outside hitter Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) with 10. Senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) paced the offense with 47 set assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team in service aces with four.
Four Saints had double-digit digs as Castiglioni had 20, sophomore defensive specialist Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) had 15, Cronin had 11 and Verville had 10. Junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) led the team in blocks with four block assists, while Cronin added three block assists.
