Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team clinched at least a share of its third Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season title today (Sunday, October 21, 2012) as it defeated second-place Thiel College, 3-0, on Senior Day at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won by the scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-13.
With the win, the Saints improve to 22-4 overall and 15-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 18-7 overall and 11-3 in the PAC.
Thomas More's offense was paced by senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross), who had 38 set assists. Sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) led the team in kills with 13, while senior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 11 kills and junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) and freshman outside hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) each had six kills. Junior defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in service aces with three.
Defensively, the Saints had two players finish with double-digit digs as sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) had 27 and Cronin had 11. Deaton led the team in blocks with two block assists, while Knaley had one block solo and Lietz had one block assist.
Thomas More returns to the court next Saturday (October 27) when it plays Thiel at 11 a.m. in Greenville, Pennsylvania and then travels to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania in the afternoon to play Westminster College at 5 p.m.
