Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team defeated Bethany College, 4-1, today (Saturday, October 20, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Senior Day at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 9-3-4 overall and 4-1-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 5-10-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the PAC.
Thomas More took an early, 1-0, when senior midfielder Andrew Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored unassisted at the 4:21 mark. The Saints increased the lead to 2-0 at 13:14 when sophomore forward Kyle Troutman (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) scored off a double assist from freshman midfielder Tim Knauer (Batavia, Ohio/Batavia) and senior forward Brad Baumer (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville). Bethany cut the lead to 2-1 on an Arkangelo James penalty kick at the 13:31 mark. Sophomore midfielder Jake Plummer (North Olmsted, Ohio/Hearts of Jesus Christ-Corpus Christi) scored unassisted at 19:44 to extend the Saints' lead to 3-1. Troutman closed out the scoring at the 25:06 mark when he scored off a Knauer assist for the final score of 4-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded five saves, while allowing one goal.
Thomas More out-shot Bethany, 15-11, and won the battle of corner kicks, 12-3.
The Saints close out the home portion of their regular-season on Wednesday (October 24) when they host Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field.
