Saints Sweep Rival Mount St. Joseph, 3-0

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team swept across-the-river rival, the College of Mount St. Joseph tonight (Tuesday, September 6, 2011) in a non-conference match at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.  The Saints won by the scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-9.

With the win, the Saints improve to 2-3 on the season and with the loss, the Lions fall to 1-4 on the season.

Freshman outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) led the Saints's offensively with nine kills, while freshman middle hitter Connie Schulte (Ottawa, Ohio/Pandora-Gilboa) added seven kills.  Senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the team with 24 assists and freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) had two assists.  Defensively,  freshman defensive specialist Christina Brackett (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) led the team in digs with 15, while Castiglioni added 13.  Senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the team in blocks with three (two solo, one assisted).

The Saints return to the court on Friday (September 9) when they play 11th-ranked Heidelberg University at 5 p.m. on the first day of the Charlie Wrublewski Tournament hosted by Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio.
