Box Score 2 (LATROBE, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team split two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches today (Sunday, September 25, 2011) at the Carey Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania as it fell, 3-1, to host Saint Vincent College and defeated Westminster College, 3-0.
With the split, the Saints are now 9-6 overall and 5-1 in the PAC.
In the first match of the day, Saint Vincent won by the scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-23. Senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton), junior outside hitter Hannah Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and freshman outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) each had 11 kills in the match. Senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the team in assists with 30. Two Saints finished with double-digit digs as freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) had 14 and Lietz had 10.
In the second match of the day, the Saint won by the scores of 25-12, 31-29 and 25-18. The Saints hit .331 as a team in the match. Three Saints had double-digit kills as Sullivan and freshman middle hitter Connie Schulte (Ottawa, Ohio/Pandora-Gilboa) each finished with 12 and Cronin added 10. Clifford finished the match with a team-high 38 assists.
Thomas More returns to the court next Saturday (October 1) when it hosts Bethany College and Geneva College in PAC tri-match at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints will play Bethany at 11 a.m. and Geneva at 3 p.m.
