Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 3-0, tonight (Wednesday, September 14, 2011) in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Presidents fall to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the PAC.
Thomas More's offensive attack was led by senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) as she had 10 kills, while freshman middle hitter Connie Schulte (Ottawa, Ohio/Pandora-Gilboa) added nine kills and freshman outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) had six. Senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and junior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) each finished with 17 set assists.
Defensively, all 15 Saints recorded a dig and were led by freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) with nine. Schulte and sophomore middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) led the Saints in blocks as they each had three total blocks.
The Saints are idle until next Wednesday (September 21) when they host Thiel College at 7 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
