Box Score (WASHINGTON, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball dropped the first game, but rallied to defeat Washington & Jefferson College, 3-1, tonight (Wednesday, October 5, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at the Henry Memorial Center in Washington, Pennsylvania. The Saints won by the scores of 25-27, 25-7, 25-10 and 25-13.
With the win, the Saints improve to 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the PAC and with the loss, the Presidents fall to 7-12 overall and 2-7 in the PAC.
The Saints had three players with double-digit kills as freshman middle hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) with 16, senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 16 and junior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 13. Junior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) had 38 assists, while senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) finished with 15 assists. Defensively, the Saints were led by freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) with 15 digs and freshman defensive specialist Christina Brackett (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) with 11 digs.
The Saints return to action next Tuesday (October 11) when they travel to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College at 7 p.m.
