Box Score 2 (BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team split two matches today (Saturday, October 22, 2011) in Western Pennsylvania as it defeated Waynesburg, 3-0, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, but fell, 3-1, to Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
With the split the Saints are now 16-10 overall and 11-5 in the PAC.
In the first match of the day, the Saints defeated Waynesburg by the scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14.  Freshmen outside hitters Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) and Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) led the teams in kills with 11 and 10 respectively.  Junior setter  Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) led the team in assists with 23, while senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) added 22.  Defensively, the Saints were led by freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Ansse Creuse) with 21 digs and junior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 11.
In the second match of the day, the Saints fell to Geneva by the scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-23 and 25-22.  Thomas More had two players with double-digit kills as senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 14 and sophomore middle blocker Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) with 12.  Verville led the team in assists with 38, while Castiglioni led the team in digs with 20, while freshman defensive specialist Christina Brackett (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) added 18.
Thomas More returns to action on Thursday (October 27) when it travels to Bethany, West Virginia to play Bethany College at 7 p.m.
