Box Score (BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Thomas More College women's soccer team dropped its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match of the year today (Saturday, October 22, 2011) as it fell, 2-1, to Bethany College at Hoag Field in Bethany, West Virginia.
With the win, the Bison improve to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the PAC and with the loss, the Saints fall to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the PAC.
Thomas More took an early 1-0 lead at the 16:55 mark when it scored on an own goal.
Bethany tied the match at 1-1 when Cassie Spalding scored off an assist from Julie Lindenfelser at the 42:13 mark.
The Bison closed out the scoring at the 63:20 mark when Lindenfelser scored unassisted.
Senior goalkeeper Katie Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) played all 90 minutes in goal and allowed two goals, while recording three saves.
Despite the loss, Thomas More out-shot Bethany, 25-14, and won the battle of corner kicks, 8-0.
Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (October 26) when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania to play Washington & Jefferson College at 8 p.m.
