Saints Remain Undefeated in the PAC With a 3-1 Win at Bethany

(BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team remained undefeated in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) as it defeated Bethany College, 3-1, today (Saturday, October 22, 2011) in a PAC match at Hoag Field in Bethany, West Virginia.

With the win, the Saints improve to 12-1-1 overall and 6-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Bison fall to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the PAC.

Thomas More took an early 1-0 when senior defender Keith Kreidenweis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) scored off a corner kick at the 1:31 mark.  The Saints increased the lead to 2-0 at the 2:42 mark when senior midfielder Alex Oeswein (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) scored on a penalty kick.  Bethany cut the lead to 2-1 at halftime when Arkangelo James scored at the 35:54 mark.

Senior midfielder Alex Bertke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) closed out the scoring at the 53:26 mark when he scored off a corner kick for the final score of 3-1.

Senior goalkeeper Zack Lawson (Frankfort, Ky./Frankfort) earned the win as he played all 90 minutes and allowed only one goal, while recording four saves.

Thomas More out-shot Bethany, 14-12, and won the battle of corner kicks, 8-2.

Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (October 26) when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania to play Washington & Jefferson College at 6 p.m.
