Box Score (WAYNESBURG, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Waynesburg University, 3-0, tonight (Saturday, October 15, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. The Saints won by the scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-17.
With the win, the Saints improve to 14-9 overall and 9-4 in the PAC and with the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 8-13 overall and 2-11 in the PAC.
Three Saints had double-digit kills as freshman outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) had 14, junior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 12 and senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 10. The Saints offense was paced by junior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) with 29 assists and senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with 13 assists, while the team had eight service aces.
Defensively, Thomas More was led by freshman outside hitter Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) with 11 digs, while Lietz added eight and sophomore defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) added six.
The Saints return to action on Monday (October 17) when they host Saint Vincent College at 6 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
